rp excerpt for m'naeva kalahd, my ffxiv ocWithin this clan of Keepers of the Moon, the Kalahd family were but wards. Protected guests, but never made to feel less than family. The Seekers, despite their culture and way of life being so utterly different, had been welcomed with naught but kindness. For them, little M'naeva's heart beat. She had been born into the Shroud, knew not the home—this Peering Stones—her parents would often speak of. This was her home. These were her people, her family. She found comfort in the customs and practices of the Ashenshroud while those her mother and father tried to teach her left her feel alienated. Her friends were her siblings: for all she knew, all she cared, Ninoh and Nico'to were her sister and brother.Still, she was but a child, barely ten summers old, and the mischief she liked to cause was fun to her. She never caused ireverseable trouble, mind you. Just liked to sneak around, steal a snack or two, and eavesdrop. Being nosey, especially, was the best, because then she could tell Ninoh all about it and have a good giggle with her.It was just...once she saw cruelty, Ava was unable to forget it. These things she didn't tell Ninoh. These things, she kept to herself, terrified to open up to anyone and cause even more harm. Harm that she would not be the target of.It was happening again. He had grabbed Nico'to, rough and merciless, like he had all the other times before. Each time Ava had watched, she had remained hidden, flinching silently when she heard the brutal sound of a palm connecting with the soft, delicate skin of a child. When his ear had been grabbed a few weeks ago, she couldn't even look, feeling the pain in her own body. M'naeva was a rascal, she was cheeky, and she was bubbly, but by no means was she brave. Not yet. She was but a child. So, what was different, this time? The brutality with which he spoke to, beat, his own son? What was it that made her scream and break into a sprint, to jump Valr'a? Yell at him to stop, to claw at his eyes?
rp excerpt for osha'a bajhiri, my ffxiv ocHe was not to engage, unless Nico’to’s life was threatened.Throughout the entire conversation, Osha’a had an arrow primed in his bow, arm cocked back. He needed but release his hold on the feathers between his fingers; he’d been tapping against them with his thumb impatiently—need but watch it soar through the air like his beloved hawks and lodge itself into the side of that monster’s neck. Sha was a wise man in his own, unique way, yet he couldn’t understand how something so vile could produce pure innocence, one he rocked to sleep in his arms each night so his Kah could rest. This prey, this kill, would have been his pleasure. And pleasure—it was a foreign sensation to him. When Sha took a life, it was out of necessity. He rarely found fulfillment in it, knew it to be naught else but his duty. But this one? His ears, his tails, his fingers twitched, uncharacteristically restless, as he, in the privacy of his thoughts, begged for his prey to misstep. It didn’t come. Only his Kah’s command restrained him. The arrow returned to its brethren and his bow to his shoulder. He landed on the ground next to Nico’to with a practiced jump from the branches. Such a large man, yet quiet in his every step. Sha tugged down his mask, fresh burn marks healing slowly, having already claimed their eternal rest in his skin. “Come.” He’d hear no protest as he, with ease—Nico’to had lost weight. Too much.—pulled the other Keeper up onto his feet and supported his weight. Like this, Sha assisted Nico, helped him walk to a place more comfortable than the dirt. “You are alright.”Physically, at least.
an excerpt from my bachelor's thesis"[...] With an introduction of individual interpretations into a transmedial experience, the understanding of the core narrative can change depending on the person engaging with it. In this sense, transmedial storytelling is unique because it does not remain confined within its paradigms but is actively influenced by participants (Thon 32). Furthermore, while various interpretations of a fictional world can (co)exist, it is the creator of the fiction who determines what is and what is not considered as canonical (37). Even then, it is debatable if a singular canonical interpretation can possibly exist when it can be heavily influenced by audiences. Individuality functions as a tool for interpretation, and such an engagement is also considered part of immersion and participation. With a wide spectrum of subjectivity and individuality, a story can be regarded and interpreted from several different viewpoints, especially when audiences reflect on their personal experi- ences and apply them to the fictional world. Hence, multiple versions of the same story can exist. Additionally, a video game can actively refuse a canonical ending and usher players into creating their own. This is true for the video game this thesis will focus on, Detroit: Become Human. [...] Following this, the thesis will investigate the power dynamic between Markus and Connor. As mentioned above, the game offers an immense number of possible endings and thus, the specific premise that was defined will be expanded upon further, a premise within which the analysis will operate. Despite this, it is worth noting that regardless of players’ individual choices, the relationship between Markus and Connor is always racially charged, and the thesis will attempt to portray this. The claim made is that in Detroit: Become Human, the game’s narrative draws from historical symbols and concepts of African American oppression to depict a racially charged power dynamic between Markus and Connor."
